How telehealth works in Queensland

Telehealth lets you see a GP by phone or video without travelling. bulkbill.doctor is an Australia-wide online GP service with no physical clinic in Brisbane, so you can book from the city, the coasts, Cairns, Townsville or the bush.

Medicare is a national scheme, so the telehealth rules are the same in Queensland as in NSW, Victoria or WA. Your GP can issue certificates, scripts and referrals where clinically appropriate, and suggest an in-person visit if needed.

What happens in your consult

Your GP will:

talk with you about your symptoms and health history

give you advice and a plan for your next steps

issue a medical certificate if it's clinically appropriate

send a script by email or SMS if it's clinically appropriate

write a referral or request tests where it's appropriate

suggest an in-person visit if you need an examination

Queensland doesn't use daylight saving, so Urgent After Hours runs 12am to 7am Queensland time all year, even when NSW clocks are an hour ahead in summer.
