FAQ
BulkBill.Doctor is an Australian telehealth service that connects you with qualified GPs via secure video call. We make it easy and affordable to get quality general practice care from home — with bulk-billed (no out-of-pocket cost) appointments available for eligible Medicare patients, plus private paid options when needed. Our focus is convenient, patient-centred care for everyday health concerns, family wellness, preventive advice and ongoing support.
We offer bulk-billed consultations at $0 out-of-pocket for eligible patients with a valid Medicare card. Eligibility is checked securely during booking based on current Medicare rules.
If your appointment doesn’t qualify for bulk-billing, we’ll clearly show transparent private fees before you confirm — no surprises. Many standard GP consultations, scripts, certificates and referrals are covered under Medicare when you meet the criteria.
Most Australians with a valid Medicare card can access bulk-billed telehealth when the consultation meets Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) requirements. This often includes having had a face-to-face visit with a GP in the last 12 months, though exemptions exist (e.g. children under 12 months, people experiencing homelessness, certain mental health or sexual health consultations, and remote area patients).
Our booking system checks your eligibility upfront using your Medicare details. Private fee options are always available as a fallback.
A valid Medicare card is required for bulk-billed (free) appointments. If you don’t have one — or your consultation doesn’t qualify — you can still book a private paid consultation with clear upfront pricing. Overseas visitors and international students are welcome on a private fee basis.
Our GPs can help with a wide range of common issues, including:
Coughs, colds, flu, sinus and respiratory infections
Skin rashes, infections and minor skin concerns
Mental health support, anxiety, stress and sleep issues
Medication reviews and repeat prescriptions (non-controlled medicines)
Medical certificates for work or study
Referrals to specialists, pathology or imaging
Preventive health advice, family wellness, men’s health, women’s health and seniors care
Follow-up care and chronic condition support (where clinically appropriate)
Video consultations work well for most non-emergency issues.
Telehealth is not appropriate for medical emergencies — call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department if you have chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, severe bleeding, suspected stroke, or any life-threatening symptoms.
We also cannot manage issues that require a physical examination (e.g. abdominal pain that needs palpation, certain injuries, or some women’s health checks), workers’ compensation claims, or prescriptions for controlled substances (S8/S4D medicines) in most cases. Our GPs will advise you if an in-person visit is needed and can help arrange it.

Yes. Parents or guardians can book video consultations for children. A parent or responsible adult should be present during the call for anyone under 18. Many childhood illnesses, rashes, coughs and follow-ups are well suited to telehealth. Bulk-billing eligibility often applies for younger children.
We offer convenient appointment times across extended hours, including evenings, weekends and after-hours slots where available. Our team of GPs provides flexible coverage so you can often be seen the same day. Check the real-time booking calendar for current availability — we aim to make quality care accessible when you need it.
