What is an online medical certificate
A medical certificate, also called a doctor's certificate or sick certificate, confirms you're unwell and unable to go to work, school or study. At bulkbill.doctor, GPs can issue a telehealth medical certificate by phone or video, if it's clinically appropriate.
A medical certificate is a medical service, so every certificate at bulkbill.doctor comes from a real-time consultation with a doctor, not an online form. Your GP decides whether a certificate is appropriate and what it covers.
What happens in your consult
Your GP will:
![]() | ask about your symptoms and how long you've been unwell |
![]() | check how your illness is affecting work, school or study |
![]() | give you advice on managing your symptoms and recovering |
![]() | decide whether a certificate is appropriate and what it covers |
![]() | talk about a script or referral if you need one |
![]() | let you know when to seek further care if things get worse |
If your GP issues a certificate, it's sent to you by email after your consult. Book the Standard appointment type, which suits most straightforward certificates.
Bulk billed online medical certificates
Medicare eligibility rules apply. If your consult meets Medicare's rules, it can be bulk billed. If you're not eligible, a private fee applies. There's no extra fee for the certificate itself.
Certificates can be issued in every state, including NSW, Victoria and Queensland, for sick leave, school, uni, study or Centrelink, where clinically appropriate. We can't help with workers' compensation claims.
