WHO IT'S FOR
People needing the pill or contraception advice
Contraception by telehealth
Many people renew a pill script or talk about contraception with a GP by phone or video. At bulkbill.doctor, GPs can discuss your options and prescribe the pill where it's clinically appropriate, with your eScript sent by email or SMS.
Some options, such as an implant or IUD, need an in-person visit to fit, so your GP can explain the choices and refer you. Emergency contraception is available from pharmacies without a script, and your GP can talk about ongoing options.
What happens in your consult
Your GP will:
![]() | ask about your health history and any medicines you take |
![]() | check things that affect which pill is safe, like blood pressure |

![]() | talk through the contraception options that suit you |
![]() | send an eScript if a script is clinically appropriate |

Have a recent blood pressure reading handy if you can. Book Standard for a pill script, or Long if you'd like to talk through new options.
Medicare and contraception consults
Medicare eligibility rules apply. If your consult meets Medicare's rules, it can be bulk billed, and your eligibility is checked when you book. If you're not eligible, a private fee applies.
Medicare has specific telehealth items for sexual and reproductive health consults. What you pay at the pharmacy for the pill is separate and depends on the brand.

FAQ
Can I get the pill online in Australia?
Yes, where clinically appropriate. A bulkbill.doctor GP talks with you by phone or video first, and if the pill suits you, your eScript is sent by email or SMS.
Can I get a pill script without seeing a doctor?
Not at bulkbill.doctor. Every pill script comes from a real-time phone or video consult with an Australian-registered GP, so your GP can check it's safe for you.
Can I start the pill by telehealth?
Often, yes. Your GP will ask about your health, blood pressure, migraines and smoking to check the pill is safe for you. You may need an in-person check first.
Can I get emergency contraception?
The emergency contraceptive pill is available from pharmacies without a script. If you'd like advice about ongoing contraception afterwards, book a Standard appointment.
Will my pill script be sent to a pharmacy?
No. Your eScript is sent to you by email or SMS, whichever you prefer, and you can take it to any pharmacy you choose.
Is a contraception telehealth consult bulk billed?
Anyone can book. Medicare bulk billed if eligible. Your eligibility is checked when you book. Pharmacy costs for the pill are separate. If you're not eligible, a private fee applies.
Can I choose my own doctor?
Yes. When you book, you can choose the doctor you'd like to see.
